hash.peace promotes responsible advocacy of social harmony through the R2D2 model, developed by Nazhath Faheema, that encourages and motivates research, reflection, discourse, and development as a course of behaviour. This model applies both at an individual and group level.

hash.peace members are committed to the R2D2 as a modus operandi for our work and engagements.

RESEARCH

Research involves the efforts taken to learn about the different social harmony issues such as racism, implicit bias, microaggressions, religiously motivated prejudice, extremist ideologies, self-radicalisation and exclusivist culture. It also involves studying the various efforts that are being taking across countries counter these problems

Research would include studying the history, factors, reports, expert opinions and other sources of information that will help to build the knowledge.

REFLECT

Reflection is an important part of R2D2. It encourages the reviewing of what has been learnt from the research, conversations and other learning opportunities. One way is to breaking down the topic/issue into small parts to understand, reason and formulate opinions.

hash.peace adopts Gibbs' Reflective Cycle model for personal reflection of the issues/topic.

Developed by Graham Gibbs in 1988 to give structure to learning from experiences

DISCOURSE

Discourse is the communication phase of the R2D2 model that encourages conversations and dialogues between and amongst different groups of people who are concerned/affected by the problems that affect social harmony. The objective is to:

  • Self-review opinions and judgements

  • Activate comfort zones and trust levels through empathy-building

  • Facilitate honest, heart-to-heart discussions

  • Create opportunities for middle grounds

DEVELOP

The Develop phase guides hash.peace and its members to be objective-driven in the advocacy work. The aim is to create well-reasoned judgements/conclusions (at the individual level), and programmes/solutions (at society level) that are based on the research, reflections and discourse conducted.

Our aim is to develop different kinds of programs, toolkits and products to combat the identified problems for sustainable social harmony.
