FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER

Nazhath Faheema

Faheema is the Founder of hash.peace. She started hash.peace as a solo youth movement in December 2015 engaging peers and strangers from all walks of life over coffee or a meal to better understand different identities in multicultural societies.

Faheema believed that young people should lead bold and balanced conversations to sustain peaceful, positive relations in the community. She also felt that such ground discussions would safeguard the community from extremist ideologies that promote hate.

The idea behind hash.peace is "one conversation at a time" to address prejudices caused by negative stereotypes and misconceived perceptions of racial and religious groups. Driven by this purpose, Faheema developed hash.peace into a youth-led organisation. In 2021, under her leadership hash.peace became a registered society.

Faheema is voluntarily engaged in activating inter-belief and inter-ethnic conversations that enable stronger social cohesion. She undertakes efforts to counter extremist ideologies and exclusive mindsets that are harmful to the peacekeeping of the community.

She completed her post-graduate student pursuing her Masters in Asian Studies S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), furthering her passion for countering religiously motivated extremism and interfaith dialogue. She wrote a dissertation on “Strengthening the Role & Representation of Women in Singapore’s Interfaith Movements”.

She is also engaged in volunteer work that serves different needs and aspirations of Singapore society.

Faheema is the recipient of the President's Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards (People of Good)
2021 - a pinnacle award that represents the highest honour for volunteerism in the community and is conferred by the President of the Republic of Singapore.

She has also been recognised as Gen. T List Honouree, and as a Changemaker Alumni by Singapore Management University for her work in social harmony advocacy.

Professionally, Faheema works as the Chief Operating Officer in one of Asia's fastest-growing law firms and a leading commercial law firm in Singapore. She oversees the general operations of the firm. She is also in charge of strategising and managing the people-resources aspects of the firm to support growth and development.
